President Paul Kagame has once again reiterated his determination to deal decisively with whoever threatens Rwanda’s national security.
“Anyone who threatens our security will be dealt with and will pay a heavy price,” President Kagame said during the commissioning of 721 cadet officers at the Rwanda Military Academy in Gako on Monday, April 26.
“We want to use our capacity not to attack any country but to defend ourselves against any threat to our security and sovereignty,” he said.
Kagame accuses opposition in the diaspora of forming armed movements to destabilize Rwanda and remove him from power.
According to President Kagame, the Rwanda Defense Force’s close collaboration with citizens is what has led to development seen in Rwanda today.
“We build our capabilities to secure our country, protect our sovereignty, and build upon our security to sustain our development,” Kagame said, adding that transforming the nation towards continued development requires a professional, strong and disciplined army.
He, urged the new officers to continue in that vein.
