Maj Gen (Rtd) Jim Katugugu Muhwezi Wednesday said his next step after swearing in as Member of Parliament will be to help improve livelihoods of the people of Rujumbura and Uganda as a whole.

“When God gives you a second chance, use it maximumly,” Maj Gen Jim Muhwezi said during a luncheon he hosted at Sheraton Kampala Hotel for a select group of guests in lieu of Covid-19 protocols.

“In this tenure, I will focus more on helping to emancipate our people from poverty as well as work on improving their livelihoods,” he said.

He revealed that his return to parliament was occasioned after a group of over 300 from different sub-counties of Rujumbura – Nyakagyeme, Bugangari, Bwambara, Ruhinda, Buhunga, Bikurungu and Rwerere Town Council led by Kokunda Julius, met him in Nankulabye, Kampala in 2019 and requested him to consider offering himself again for leadership as Rujumbura MP for the years 2021-2026.

“After consultation with my wife [Canon Susan Muhwezi], I took the decision to stand again since there was justifiable demand for me to go back and serve the people,” he said.
