Uganda’s cases rise to 281 as 28 more people test positive for Covid-19

KAMPALA – The Ministry of Health on Wednesday said they had recorded 28 new cases of Covid-19 as the country’s tally rose to 281.

Of the new cases, 21 are truck drivers who arrived via Elegu border while seven are contacts to previously confirmed truck drivers.

“The contacts were under quarantine at the time of test,” said Health Minister Dr Jane Ruth Aceng.

Africa Tembelea has also learnt that, 7 positive foreign truck drivers (4 Tanzanians, 1 Eritrean, 1 Congolese and 1 Burundian) were handed over to their country of origin.

The number of truck drivers who have been returned to their respective countries now stands at over 277.

A total of 2,004 samples were tested Wednesday at Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI) and Uganda’s points of entry.
