Kampala, Uganda: Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) today welcomed 250 tourists mainly from the Israeli largest firm Meitar Liquornik Geva Leshem Tal. The tourists came aboard a direct flight from Israel to Uganda, the EL AL flight. They will be touring the country till Saturday.
Tali Yativ, the team leader of the Israelites tourists says she is excited to be in Uganda. “I love the people of Uganda and the nature Uganda has.” She said.
They toured the 1976 building at the Airport that was under siege during Amin’s government.
Mr. Stephen Assimwe, the UTB CEO said that this is very good for the tourism industry.
“This is a visit that will attract more people from Israel and also the rest of the world,” he said.
They will be touring and visiting the national parks, visit the Jewish community in Mbale, the source of the Nile and other cultural places across the country.
UTB board has been doing a lot of promotions on tourism outside Uganda.
The minister of Tourism Prof Ephraim Kamuntu is currently leading a contingent from UTB that includes some private sector players in Tel Aviv, Israel where they are participating in the (ITTM) International Mediterranean Tourism Market, Tel Aviv-Yafo.
Israel has a population of about 8.712 million people and a GDP of $400 billion and per capita income of about $40,270.25.
