KAMPALA – The Ministry of Health has confirmed 11 new COVID-19 cases from 3,386 samples tested on Saturday June, 27, pushing Uganda’s total number of cases to 859.
Two new cases were among 2,396 samples tested from Points of Entry while 9 were among 990 samples of alerts and contacts. All confirmed cases are Ugandans.
The two cases are truck drivers (one arrived via Mutukula, while one arrived from Kenya via Busia Point of Entry.
11 of the confirmed cases are alerts and contacts to previously confirmed cases (eight from Amuru and 1 from Nwoya ).
A total of ten more foreign truck drivers who tested positive for COVID-19, were handed over to their respective country of origin, according to the director general of Health Services at the ministry 0f health, Dr. Henry Mwebesa.
Uganda has registered a total of 794 COVID-19 recoveries and to-date, no COVID-19 related death has been recorded.
