Dodoma, Tanzania – President Samia Suluhu Hassan has today revealed the last words that her predecessor Dr. John Pombe Magufuli said a few days before he met his death.

“Samia don’t worry about my health, go check out the projects we promised to deliver to the people, send my greetings and tell them I love them.”

The Tanzanian President shared the late John Magufuli’s last words while addressing the Nation during the state funeral which was held in Tanzania’s administrative capital, Dodoma.

She revealed that while on an official working visit to Tanga, she did call Dr Magufuli on phone to inform him of her visit as was the norm.

Sadly, she however said that, this will be no more as she will no longer be able to hear the words they shared, or the text messages, as they consulted each other.

In a related development, President Suluhu also reaffirmed her willingness and readiness to lead Tanzania. Standing boldly at the Jamhuri Stadium in Dodoama today, Samia Suluhu reassured Tanzanians that the person standing before them was actually the President of Tanzania. Many pundits saw this as a way to silence her critics who had initially held the view that she would not be President.

Her reassurance was met with applause from those present including Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta, South Africa’s Cyril Ramaphosa, Zimbabwe’s Emerson Mnagangwa and Mozambique’s Fellipe Nyusi among others.

Encouraged by almost all speakers at the funeral, President Suluhu said she will continue from where the late president Magufuli had stopped.
