Celebrated Jamaican reggae artiste, Tarrus Riley, real names Omar Riley, will for the first time perform in Uganda at the Swangz Avenue All Star Concert slated for August 31, 2018 at Lugogo Cricket Oval.
The concert shall feature artistes that have worked with the music house for all these years within Uganda and beyond, including Irene Ntale, Winnie Nwagi, Benon & Vampino among others.
Swangz Avenue, one of Uganda’s leading record labels is behind Tarrus performing in Uganda as he is to headline their musical journey where they’ll be celebrating their 10th Anniversary.
The Just the Way You Are star was expected to perform in Uganda last year in December, but Red Fog and Bolt, an agency that was in charge of his trip failed to deliver, which left many Ugandans bitter.
However, Swangz Avenue brought back many smiles on July 2, 2018 when they confirmed that indeed the reggae star will perform at their all-star concert in August.
“Tarrus is coming to Uganda. We are excited that the deal has been sealed,” Benon Mugumbya, one of Swangz Avenue’s directors told the public.
Swangz Avenue is prominent for promoting local talent and Riley is the only international artiste that will perform at their 10th anniversary.
Famous for songs like Gimme Likkle One Drop, She’s Royal, Just the way you are, and Don’t Come Back among others, he has assured his fans in Uganda that he is coming to Kampala. “The concert is going to go on. I am coming to Uganda, and I will be giving you great reggae and dancehall tunes soon.” He said in a video drop.
Riley, born in the Bronx, New York and raised in Jamaica, made his recording debut as a teenager. Since then, he has churned out a number of hits scaling several charts with a number of collaborations with artistes like Demarco, Konshens, Vybz Kartel, Major Lazer and Ellie Goulding.
