Kampala – Ugandan businessman, Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia has been appointed as honorary Consul of the Republic of Nepal to Uganda, Africa Tembelea has learnt.
The appointment was made by Bidhya Devi Bhandari, the Nepalese president.
When contacted by Africa Tembelea, Sudhir, the Ruparelia Group of Companies Chairman confirmed the news.
“Today, I have been officially appointed as Honorary Consul of the Republic of Nepal to Uganda,” said Dr Sudhir Ruparelia.
Dr Sudhir will present his credentials in Kampala early next month at a formal ceremony tht will be presided over by His Excellency Ambassador Jhabindra Aryal Rajdoot, the Nepalese Ambassador to Egypt.
Africa Tembelea understands that this move is aimed at strengthening economic and political ties between the two countries.
Nepal joins a host of other countries that have recently opened consulates in Uganda among which are Gambia, Malaysia and Slovenia.
