Minister of State for Sports Dennis Hamson Obua has appointed new board members for the National Council of Sports (NCS) with Donald Rukare replacing Bosco Onyik as chairman.
Hamson Obua in confirming the new board, noted that: “In the exercise of the powers vested upon me by section 4(2) of the National Council of Sports Act (Chapter 48), I am pleased to appoint the following as chairperson and members of NCS for two years with immediate effect…”
The eight members on the new board are Donald Rukare, who replaces Bosco Onyik who had served since 2012. Other board members that will serve on the new board for a two-year period that runs from February 2020 to February 2022 include; Stephen Asiimwe, Paul Luswata, Andrew Otengo Owiny, Mark Ssali, Grace Abalo, Piloya Evelyn Gloria and Dr. George William Galiwango.
Retained from the old board were – Zubair Galiwango, Cecilia Anyakoit and Agatha Namirembe.
Africa Tembelea understands that amidst the tough times, the outgoing regime has tried to combat wrangles in federations and lobbied for more funding despite the inadequacy and unavailability of Sports facilities being one of its main failures.

The NCS, is a statutory organ whose establishment, status and powers are enshrined under The NCS Act of 1964, to among other things; Develop, Promote and Control sports activities in Uganda on behalf of Government, under the Ministry of Education and Sports.
