On Saturday, Bridget Birungi was ‘given away’ to South African Presidents eldest son Andile Ramaphosa during a traditional marriage that took place at Ex-Premier Amama Mbabazi’s private residence in Kololo, an upscale suburb of the capital, Kampala.
“She is such an amazing Beauty,” South African President Cyril Ramaphosa said. “She is the most beautiful woman in Uganda we have ever seen”
The English language is short of words to describe the aura of glamor and splendor that graced the Kuhingira of Bridget Birungi and Andile Ramaphosa.
The Kuhingira was preceded by a traditional marriage request ceremony in May this year, locally known as ‘Okhushaba’ loosely translated as ‘to ask’ which was also held at Amama Mbabazi’s private residence in Kololo.
The ceremony gave both families a chance to be introduced to each other and negotiate the bride price.
36-year-old Andile, who is president Cyril Ramaphosa’s eldest son, is a finance and capital markets professional, currently working as the head of strategy in the Executive team of Macquire Bank South Africa. He has been dating 37-year-old Rwakairu for the last ten years. The couple have a two-month old baby.
Saturday’s Kuhingira was attended by some of Uganda’s ‘creme de la creme’ that included; Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the 1st Lady Hon Janet Kataha Museveni, Chief Justice Bart Katurebe, the governor of the Central Bank, Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile, Alhajji Moses Kigongo, Rt Hon Ruhakana Rugunda, Major General Mugisha Muntu (Rtd), Dr Sudhir Ruparelia, Gordon Wavamunno, Amos Nzeyi, Charles Mbiire, Dr Francis Runumi, Hon Miria Matembe and former minister Jim Muhwezi among others.
