Russian tennis star Maria Sharapova today met with President Paul Kagame at Village Urugwiro in Kigali. The 5-time Grand Slam champion used Twitter and Instagram to express the joy and bond she had built after meeting the Rwandan president and his family.
“It was an honor meeting you, President Kagame and spending time with your family. #Rwanda, you are so special. 🇷🇼,” Sharapova tweeted.
From the pictures, it is evident, Sharapova is having an amazing time in Africa. Her visit started with a safari in Botswana before she arrived Rwanda where she got an opportunity for an up-close view of Africa’s Gentle Giants, the Mountain Gorillas in Kinigi, Musanze District, on Tuesday.
Sharapova is the latest star athlete to track the mountain gorillas in Rwanda as well as meet president Kagame after Arsenal defender David Luiz toured the country last month.
