A total of 46 countries including Uganda will participate in the 21st edition of Miss Tourism International competition due on December 21, in Malaysia.
The Miss Tourism International (MTI) 2018 World Final themed “Glitz and Glamour” is already tipped to be “The Biggest Event of Year” in Malaysia and will be held at the Grand Ballroom, Bandar Sunway Hotel Resort and Spa, Petaling Jaya.
D’Touch International managing director Tan Sri Danny Ooi said that, the event is aligned with the event objective of “Promoting Tourism, Culture and Friendship” while empowering the delegates to propagate values in their respective country.
“The MTl was mooted to channel tourism to create and foster new relationships among the delegates while nurturing a better and closer understanding of one another’s national cultures, customs and traditions,” Danny said at a press conference during the launch of Miss Tourism International 2018 World Final.
Kigezi’s Margaret Kankwanzi, 22, who was crowned Miss Tourism Uganda at Kampala Serena Hotel in October, is in the contest against beauties from other parts of the world.
Among the other countries represented at the contest are; Armenia, Australian, Belarus, Bolivia, Bosnia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Latvia, Macedonia, Malaysia, Mexico, Moldova, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, New Zealand, Panama, Paraguay, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, South Africa, Sweden, Taiwan, Thailand, Ukraine, Venezuela and Vietnam.
Beside the main MTI World Final title, there will also be four other titles to be won, namely Miss Tourism Metropolitan International, Miss Tourism Cosmopolitan International, Miss Tourism Global and Dreamgirl of The Year International.
There will also be a host of subsidiary titles to be awarded such as Best in Talent, Best in Social Media, Best in National Costume, Miss a Friendship and Miss popularity.
The Miss Tourism International pageant serves as a platform to educate and promote tourism and cultural exchange among the participating delegates and has grown to be the proverbial vehicle; capturing the essence of the host country and its way of life through the eyes of these beauties.
