Latitude Hotels Group Opens $15m Boutique Hotel in Uganda

Hotel chain, Latitude Hotels Group, has opened a new boutique hotel in the residential suburb of Makindye, in Uganda’s capital, Kampala. This follows the opening of similar facilities in Malawi and Zambia in 2012 and 2014, respectively.

Speaking on behalf of Uganda Hotel Owner’s Association (UHOA), Susan Muhwezi said she had not seen anything like this facility in Uganda and thanked Latitude O for extending a pre-opening invitation to the hotelier’s Board of Trustees.

“I don’t think I have the right words to express how happy Iam with the opening of Latitude O Hotel in Kampala,” said Susan Muhwezi.

“It’s authentic, has character, is well thought out and incorporates the African Culture – the word is simply wow,” the UHOA Board Chair added.

Mrs. Muhwezi urged latitude hotel management to extend its property development to other parts of the country and promised to continue lobbying for them to get a tarmacked road to their Kampala facility.

On his part, Roberto Pelliccia, Latitude Group CEO commended UHOA for making their entry into Uganda flawless and said they looked forward to show casing their best hospitality.

“We are immensely proud to be opening this amazing boutique hotel in Kampala and the Latitude team is looking forward to showing off our unrivaled hospitality,” said Pelliccia.

“Guests staying at Latitude, have a 360-degree option of choosing between Kampala City skyline or Lake Victoria view rooms,” he added.

Ms. Lilly Ajarova, the Uganda Tourism Board CEO, promised to do everything possible to promote the facility to the world as it’s architectural work and décor resonated well with Uganda, the Pearl of Africa.

The US$ 15-million-dollar Latitude 0 Hotel that opened on October 1st 2019, joins other magnificent properties that have supported Uganda’s hospitality sector such as Speke Resort and Commonwealth Resort Munyonyo, Kampala Sheraton Hotel, Serena Hotels, Protea Hotel, Skyz, Kabira Country Club among others.

Ugandan President, Yoweri Museveni is expected to grace the official opening as guest of honor in less than a months time.
