After a year of rumors, Huawei has finally announced the launch date of its First Foldable Smartphone. Huawei has announced today via its official Twitter account that they will be launching their first foldable smartphone at Mobile World Congress on February 24, at 2 PM Barcelona Time.
It’s a bit surprising that Huawei is making the launch of its first foldable smartphone just after a few days of Samsung Unpack Event scheduled at February 20 where Samsung is also going to unveil its first bendable smartphone.
Huawei had already planned to unveil their Foldable smartphone in 2019 as announced in October. Even Huawei CEO Richard Yu at an investor meeting also confirmed that this flagship will launch at MWC 2019 stating as “We look forward to seeing you in Barcelona in February, where we will launch the world’s first 5G smartphone with a foldable screen,” however, he didn’t mentioned an exact launch date.
But finally, they made the official announcement about the launch date of Huawei’s first foldable smartphone on February 24. Meanwhile, there are two more companies in the race of Foldable smartphone expected to reveal at MWC. As mentioned, one of them is Samsung and another one is Motorola who is expected to reveal the upgraded version of RAZR phone at MWC 2019. So, it will be exciting to see the lineup of Foldable Smartphone at MWC 2019.
