The Confederation of African Football (Caf) has confirmed that Egypt’s bid to host the 2019 Total Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) finals has been accepted.
This follows a decision that was taken late last year to strip Cameroon of the right to host the tournament because of concerns about the country’s security and infrastructure.
Egypt beat South Africa, the only other nation to submit, in a vote held at CAF Executive Committee meeting.
The CAF Executive Committee that took the decision, sat today (Tuesday, 8 January 2019) at the Terrou-Bi Hotel in Dakar, Senegal.
The continent tournament is due to take place from 15 June – 13 July 2019.
