Taking to Twitter with an emotional post on Saturday, March 21, 2020, Dolly Parton paid tribute to country music legend Kenny Rogers, who passed away peacefully at his home in Sandy Springs, Georgia late Friday night.

“You never know how much you love somebody until they’re gone,” Parton tweeted. “I’ve had so many wonderful years and wonderful times with my friend Kenny, but above all the music and the success I loved him as a wonderful man and a true friend,” she posted.

“God bless you Kenny, fly high straight into the arms of God,” Parton said. “To the rest of you, keep the faith.”

A three-time Grammy winner who sold tens of millions of records, Kenny Rogers was known for a string of hits including “The Gambler,” “Lucille” and “Islands in the Stream.”

He came to prominence through his collaboration with Parton and appearances on films and television programs including “The Muppet Show.” His easygoing ballads and constant touring also won him mainstream pop appeal, as have his popular takes on Christmas standards.
